Saline County celebrates County Government Day with local students

The Saline County Courthouse and Law Enforcement Center were full of juveniles on March 20 for the best of reasons: County Government Day. Students from local high schools toured the courthouse, met with county officials and walked through the law enforcement center, which is home to the sheriff's office and jail. Paul Martin, who teaches Government at Friend Public School, brings his students annually to the unique opportunity.

Celebrate Start a Garden Month

Tabitha's March Health Tip is to start a garden, and members of the Wilber Garden Club speak to gardening's benefits in our upcoming Home & Acreage section. Gardening has been shown to improve mental health, help prevent cognitive decline, increase vitamin D levels, provide a good source of exercise, promote a healthier diet and create a greater sense of connectedness for people. Crete girls win second game

The Crete girls’ soccer team won its second game in overtime against Auburn on March 19. The Cardinals have now won two games since not winning any the past two seasons.

Crete boys soccer shuts out Lincoln Lutheran

The Crete boys’ soccer team didn’t have any trouble against Lincoln Lutheran on March 19 as the Cardinals pitched another shutout, defeating the Warriors, 8-0.
