This is a synopsis of the Saline County Board of Commissioners’ November 7, 2022, regular meeting proceedings. A complete set of the proceedings along with an approved list of claims is on file in the Board of Commissioners’ Journal, is of public record in the Saline County Clerk’s office and on our website: www.co.saline.ne.us SALINE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS The regular meeting of the Saline County Board of Commissioners was called to order at 9:37 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022, by Chairperson Russ Karpisek. Present were Karpisek, Phil Hardenburger, Stephanie A. Krivohlavek, Marvin A. Kohout and Janet J. Henning, Commissioners, and County Clerk Anita K. Bartels. County Attorney Tad Eickman was present between court commitments. Notice of said meeting was posted in the County Clerk’s Office and published in all three county newspapers on November 2, 2022, in compliance with State Statutes; Karpisek advised those present of the open meetings act at the back of the room and that all proceedings are electronically recorded; Approved the agenda as presented; Approved the minutes of the October 25, 2022 regular meeting; Under Citizens Forum, Gary Veprovsky addressed the Board; Under Correspondence, received from the City of Crete the November 1st agendas for the City Council and the Public Works, Legislative & Economic Development, Public Safety and Finance Committees; and inquiry from the Extension office regarding setting committee wages; received a NIRMA dividend check in the amount of $11,767.00 and from the State Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice a report the jail is in the full compliance; Under Report of Officials heard reports of meetings with the Extension Board, Hometown Housing, City of Crete, NACO Board, the Legislative Conference and a letter from the Village of Dorchester announcing Public Hearings on November 7, 2022; Senator Tom Brandt addressed the Board giving an update on legislative bills and holding a Q & A session; Aging Services Lori Moldenhauer, Saline County Area Transit Scott Bartels and Hispanic Outreach Jessica Acosta updated the Board on Cornhusker United Way programs; At 10:24 a.m. the Board recessed; At 10:35 a.m. the Board reconvened; Craig Vynhalek with Wilber Fire & Rescue and Emergency Manager John McKee provided additional information regarding the reimbursement of mobile and handheld radios using ARPA Funds. It was noted, purchases were required to be made after March 2021, and Wilber Fire & Rescue purchased the radios in January 2022 to be compatible with the Saline County communications system; Approved to reconsider the decision to reimburse Wilber Fire & Rescue for the January 2022 purchase of radios; Approved to reimburse $14,070.00 to Wilber Fire & Rescue for the mobile and handheld radios; Heard an update on the Hometown Housing project, including meetings with stakeholders and employers, who were very receptive to the program, indicating housing is needed; Approved the October 2022 Clerk of the District Court fees in the amount of $17,131.14; Approved the October 2022 Sheriff fees in the amount of $2,696.63; Approve the Speece Lewis Change Order #1 for Project C-076 (761) for a reduction of $1,954.74; Heard updates on various road projects; Approved claims as presented; There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11:44 a.m. The next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. in the Saline County Commissioners’ Room, Court House, Wilber, NE.
