EXETER-MILLIGAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING - MILLIGAN SITE MUSIC ROOM THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 2023 – 8:00 PM. President Erdkamp declared the regular meeting open at 8:00 pm. Also present were D. Kallhoff, K. Jansky, E. Milton, P. Jurgensen, A. Vavra, and Superintendent Sheffield. There were six other visitors present. The Nebraska open meetings act was posted. Motion by E. Milton and 2nd by K. Jansky to verify that the meeting of the School Board of Exeter-Milligan Public School was duly advertised, and all Board members were notified as to the time and place of the meeting pursuant to Board policy and practice. Motion carried 6-0. Motion by A. Vavra and 2nd by P. Jurgensen to approve the consensus agenda consisting of the Treasurer's report, minutes of the regular monthly meeting on March 7, 2023, and the April expenditures. Motion carried 6-0. There was no policy review or curricular report. No public comment was shared. A coop handbook is being developed with the goal to have it complete and shared with each school board in May. The EMF coop was accepted into the MUDECAS Association. The Milligan Village Board is working with FCDC to explore future options for the site. Motion by K. Jansky and 2nd E. Milton to approve the Meraki software renewal erate category 2 project. Motion carried 6-0. Motion by D. Kallhoff and 2nd A. Vavra to approve the Request for Qualifications for an ESCO. Motion carried 6-0. Discussion was held pertaining to updating the start/end times of the school day. The proposed changes by the administration would be the day would start at 8:05 AM with a regular-day dismissal at 3:29 PM and a 2:00 PM dismissal on Friday (or the last day of the week). This would match Friend’s times since we will be sharing a teacher and the sports coop. Motion by K. Janksy and 2nd D. Kallhoff to approve the updated daily start/end times for the 2023-24 school year. Motion carried 6-0. The negotiations committee met before the meeting to discuss non-certified contracts. The committee's recommendations were shared with the rest of the board. Motion by P. Jurgensen and 2nd by K. Jansky to approve the non-certified recommendations. Motion carried 6-0. The EMF coop will be a member of the Pioneer Conference in 2023-24. Supt Sheffield recommended that E-M become a full member of the Pioneer Conference which would include participation in the other non-cooped activities including JH and HS quiz bowl, vocal and instrumental music, art exhibit, and leadership summit. Motion by K. Jansky and 2nd by E. Milton to join the Pioneer Conference. Motion carried 6-0. The addition of esports opens another activity for students to participate in. Motion by D. Kallhoff and 2nd by A. Vavra to approve adding esports to the EMF coop. Motion carried 6-0. Motion by E. Milton and 2nd by K. Jansky to approve the Exeter-Milligan Education Association (EMEA) as the bargaining unit for the 2024-25 school year. Motion carried 6-0. Superintendent Sheffield shared a legislative update with the board. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 8:00 pm in the Exeter Site Community Classroom. Motion by D.
