EXETER-MILLIGAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING EXETER SITE COMMUNITY CLASSROOM WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 2023 8:00 PM. President Erdkamp declared the regular meeting open at 8:00 pm. Also present were D. Kallhoff, K. Jansky, E. Milton, P. Jurgensen, A. Vavra, Superintendent Sheffield, and Principal Kroll. There were eight other visitors present. The Nebraska open meetings act was posted. Motion by K. Jansky and 2nd by E. Milton to verify that the meeting of the School Board of Exeter-Milligan Public School was duly advertised, and all Board members were notified as to the time and place of the meeting pursuant to Board policy and practice. Motion carried 6-0. Motion by P. Jurgensen and 2nd by A. Vavra to approve the consensus agenda consisting of the Treasurer's report, minutes of the regular monthly meeting on April 13, 2023, and the May expenditures. Motion carried 6-0. Miranda Hornung presented about the updates to the shop area as well as curricular additions to the ag program including courses taught, the number of students, class highlights, and FFA highlights from the 2022-23 school year. Goals for the 2023-24 ag program were also shared as well as information pertaining to the dual credit welding classes that will be offered. No public comment was shared. A coop handbook is still in the development phase with the goal to have it complete and shared with each school board in June. The EMF sponsors/coaches met to continue discussions about their programs. The Milligan Village Board is working with FCDC to explore future options for the site. Unless there is an update, this will no longer be an agenda item. Superintendent Sheffield shared information from DLR Group about the services they can provide in planning for future facility needs. Looking ahead, if consolidation occurs, what would need to be done to the EM site for it to be used. The discussion was tabled until an area committee meeting with Friend is scheduled. The two main Summer 2023 projects are sanding/repainting the Exeter site gym floor, starting June 19, and updating the door access system. The board discussed door access system options and decided to utilize the Openpath system. The other option considered was Verkada but was almost twice the cost. Motion by K. Jansky and 2nd by E. Milton to accept the resignation of teacher/coach Jackson Krejci. Motion carried 6-0. Motion by A. Vavra and 2nd by D. Kallhoff to approve the 0.375 FTE teaching contract for Sara Pella. Motion carried 6-0. Motion by E. Milton and 2nd by K. Jansky to approve Facility Advocates as the ESCO for the elementary HVAC project. Motion carried 6-0. Superintendent Sheffield shared a legislative update with the board. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 8:00 pm in the Milligan Site Music Room. Motion by D. Kallhoff and 2nd by A. Vavra to adjourn the meeting at 8:38 pm. Motion carried 6-0.
