EXETER-MILLIGAN PUBLIC SCHOOL REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2023 AT 7:00 PM MILLIGAN SITE MUSIC ROOM President Erdkamp declared the regular meeting open at 7:00 PM. Those present were A. Erdkamp, D. Kallhoff, K. Jansky, R. Johnson, E. Milton and P. Jurgensen as well as Superintendent Sheffield and Principal Kroll. There were 12 visitors present. The Nebraska Open Meetings Act was posted. Motion by Milton and 2nd by Jansky to verify that the School Board of Exeter-Milligan Public School meeting was duly advertised, and all Board members were notified as to the time and place of meeting pursuant to Board policy and practice. Motion carried 6-0. Motion by Jansky and 2nd by Johnson to approve the consensus agenda consisting of the Treasurer’s report, the minutes of the regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, and the December expenditures. Motion carried 6-0. Superintendent Sheffield shared information about the 2022-23 NSCAS results and reviewed the 2022-23 Annual Financial Report. Two visitors shared during public comment time. A draft 2024-25 school calendar was shared. We are working with Friend to have a similar if not the same calendar. The calendar will be an action item for the January meeting. The board reviewed the consolidation petition and timeline that has been discussed. The area committees met last week with the teacher committee which is comprised of teachers from both schools. Questions and concerns from the teacher group were discussed. The elementary/gym HVAC project is still scheduled for the summer of 2024. The building and grounds committee recommended replacing the roof instead of patching the areas. Superintendent Sheffield will have Facility Advocates add this to the project as a change order. A decision about the future of the Milligan site was discussed. A couple of possibilities include the village of Milligan taking possession of the building. Through FCDC and SENDD, Eric Johnson is assisting in determining some options' feasibility. The administration from both schools is investigating different options for conference affiliation. The lack of JV/reserve games and travel times are the main reasons. More information will be available in February. Motion and 2nd by the negotiations committee to approve the 2024-25 negotiated agreement with the EMEA. Motion carried 6-0. Superintendent Sheffield shared information on: the NSAA Moratorium, the Holiday Basketball tournament at Silver Lake, and 2024 board member elections (Johnson, Jurgensen, and Milton’s terms expire).
