Those present were A. Erdkamp, D. Kallhoff, K. Jansky, R. Johnson, E. Milton and P. Jurgensen as well as Superintendent Sheffield and Principal Kroll. There were eight visitors present. The Nebraska Open Meetings Act was posted. Motion by K. Jansky and 2nd by D. Motion carried 6-0. Motion by E. Milton and 2nd by R. Johnson to approve the consensus agenda consisting of the Treasurer’s report, the minutes of the budget hearing, the levy request hearing as well as the regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, and the October expenditures. Motion carried 6-0. There were no curriculum report or policy review. No one shared during the public comment time. President Erdkamp shared a synopsis of the area committee meeting with Friend. Items discussed included the overall transition to Bobcats (until a consolidation occurs all 3 are appropriate), the consolidation timeline, the preliminary petition to reorganize (consolidation agreement), and the creation of a teacher steering committee. Both committees agreed to move forward with a preliminary petition for consolidation. The final petition will be a discussion item for the November meeting. The next area committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 27, 2023. A branding book was established for logos. The negotiations committee plans to meet soon to discuss teacher negotiations for 2024-25. The BC/BS renewal rates will be released on Wednesday, October 25. The building and grounds committee met with representatives from Facility Advocates to discuss the elementary/gym HVAC project. The recommendation from the committee is to move forward with the project, pending the approval of the low-interest financing available through the state. A letter of intent would need to be signed so Facility Advocates could go ahead and start the order process as it could take up to 30 weeks for units to be delivered. Motion and 2nd by the building and grounds committee to approve the following resolution: Following the RFQ competitive process to implement an ESCO agreement per State Statute 66-1062, the Board of Education authorizes the superintendent to sign a contract with Facility Advocates for the amount not to exceed $1,350,000 for the Energy Conservation Measure projects as proposed and discussed. Prior to the contract signature, a letter of intent will suffice so equipment can be procured. Motion carried 6-0. Motion by E. Milton and 2nd by D.
