EXETER-MILLIGAN PUBLIC SCHOOL REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2024 AT 7:00 PM MILLIGAN SITE GYMNASIUM Vice–President Milton declared the regular meeting open at 7:00 PM. Those present were K. Jansky, R. Johnson, P. Jurgensen, D. Kallhoff, and E. Milton as well as Superintendent Sheffield and Principal Kroll. A. Erdkamp was absent. There were seven (7) visitors present. The Nebraska Open Meetings Act was posted. Motion by Jansky and 2nd by Jurgensen to verify that the School Board of Exeter-Milligan Public School meeting was duly advertised, and all Board members were notified as to the time and place of meeting pursuant to Board policy and practice. Motion carried 5-0. Motion by Jurgensen and 2nd by Johnson to approve the consensus agenda consisting of the Treasurer’s report, the minutes of the regular monthly meeting on January 10, 2024, the special meetings on January 17, 2024 and January 23, 2024, and the February expenditures. Motion carried 5-0. No one shared during the public comment time. Milligan site options were discussed. There are a couple of options in conjunction with the Village of Milligan, mainly with the village taking ownership of the entire site. Superintendent Sheffield has a purchase agreement and facility use agreement ready to share with the village. The goal is to have a verbal commitment by April with a final closing date of August 2024. The final petition for reorganization with Friend and the timeline were discussed. A reminder of the upcoming special meetings to share the Petition for Reorganization: Tuesday, February 27th at 7:00 PM in Friend (public comment accepted); and Monday, March 4th at 7:00 PM in Exeter (public comment accepted). Motion by Jansky and 2nd by Kallhoff to approve the separation incentive program application of Mary Kay Pribyl. Included with the program application is her letter of resignation. Motion carried 5-0. The compiled superintendent evaluation was shared with each board member. Superintendent Sheffield and President Erdkamp will meet to develop a list of goals for 2024. Motion by Kallhoff and 2nd by Jurgensen to approve the e-rate Category 2 project to purchase new battery back-ups and new wireless access points. Motion carried 5-0. Motion by Jurgensen and 2nd by Jansky to accept the resignation of Denice Kovanda, effective March 1, 2024. Motion carried 5-0. Motion by Kallhoff and 2nd by Jansky to excuse the absence of Erdkamp. Motion carried 5-0. Information and discussion items included: NRCSA Legislative Forum - Tuesday, February 20; the registration deadline is Friday, February 16. 2024 Elections - Milton, Jurgensen, and Johnson’s terms expire in 2024. The deadline for incumbents to file is February 15, 2024. Legislative Update - the last day for priority bills is February 15 The next regular meeting will be Monday, March 18th at 7:00 PM in Exeter.
