VILLAGE OF EXETER MINUTES FEBRUARY 4, 2025 The regular meeting of the Exeter Village Board was convened in open and public session on Tuesday February 4, 2025 at 7:00 pm at the Exeter Village Office. Notice of the meeting was given by posting 10 days prior at the Exeter Village Office, Post Office, and Generations Bank. Chairperson Alan Michl called the meeting to order. Board members present upon roll call were: Alan Michl, Justin Harre, Jim Anderson, Bob Mueller and Terry Salyer. Clerk Becky Erdkamp recorded the minutes. Chairperson Michl noted that a copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act is available in the Village Office for public inspection and review. Visitors present included: Rick Penner and Cindy Markowski. Minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed and approved without correction. An accounts payable listing was presented for approval. Anderson moved and Mueller seconded the motion to approve invoices as presented. All present voted aye. She reported that over three thousand patrons have visited the library this year. She has issued sixteen new library cards. She would like to beautify Storybook Park by repainting the mural, staining the fence and adding landscaping. The village board suggested she ask the library board for volunteer assistance with some of the projects. Rick Penner of Viking Industrial Painting explained the Maintenance Program available for the water tower. The fifteen year program includes visual inspections, routine clean outs, coating touch ups, steel repairs and renovations as needed. At the end of fifteen years the interior and exterior coatings are redone. Estimates for costs begin at $11,000.00 per year, increasing to $17,000.00 by year fifteen. Members questioned what would happen if the company went out of business. Discussion was held with no formal action taken. Discussion was held on the application received for the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor position. Mueller moved and Salyer seconded the motion to offer Joe Miller the position with a starting wage of $20.00 per hour, a $1,000.00 per month insurance stipend, $100.00 per month uniform stipend, $50.00 per month phone stipend and $1,500.00 per year medical reimbursement stipend. All present voted aye. After one year employment, he will be eligible for the Ameritas retirement plan. Discussion was held on a request from Twisted Wrench to operate Pickle Cards to benefit the Exeter Volunteer Fire Department. Harre moved and Anderson seconded the motion to allow Twisted Wrench to operate the Pickle Cards. Voting aye: Anderson, Salyer, Mueller, Michl and Harre. No nays. Motion carried. John Mueller presented the Maintenance Report. Estimates for picnic tables for the park are $1,416.66 per table. Estimates for new banners for the light poles are $130.00 per banner. He will be attending the Rural Water Conference in March. Becky Erdkamp presented the Clerk’s Report. Sales tax receipts for November were $22,214.51. Keno receipts for December were $328.32. She will be attending Clerk’s School in March. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 7:00 pm. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm. Becky S.
