Kroll honored as Distinguished Principal of the Year

Exeter-Milligan Principal Laura Kroll was named the 2024 Region 1 Distinguished Principal of the Year. Read this week's Friend Sentinel newspaper to hear about how her colleagues surprised her with the award and why the EM superintendent knew she would be the perfect person to hold the title.

CPS excuses all students for State Soccer May 9

Crete Public Schools announced there will be no school for all students on Thursday, May 9 to show support for the boys' varsity soccer team. The day off from classes will not extended the school year with a make up day.
The soccer team is traveling to Omaha to compete in the 2024 Boys' State Soccer Tournament. The Cardinals play at noon at Creighton University’s Morrison Stadium.

May 6 Friend Learning Center meeting brief

During their May 6 meeting the Friend Learning Center discussed the approval of an architect proposal from Wilkins to renovate a portion of Warren Memorial Healthcare Systems, the hospital in Friend, into a childcare facility. The group of community members are looking into grant and funding opportunities to support early childhood education initiatives, including researching options for an after-school program.

District track starts today

Schools in Class B will send their track and field teams to districts today. Athletes will be vying for places at the state track meet May 15-16. Seward, Milford and Crete will compete at the B3 district at Norris, with field events starting at noon and running events at 3 p.m.
