Ruby Rosanne Johnson was born Jan. 24, 1934, in York, to Wayne and Ila (Porter) Hager and passed away April 11, 2026, at the age of 92.
Ruby carried a warmth throughout her life, from her childhood days as a cheerleader and football queen at Lincoln Northeast High School, to her cherished years as a beloved paraeducator working with special needs students at Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado, and her alma mater, Lincoln Northeast. Ruby's passion for education, her kindness, and her unwavering spirit made her a favorite amongst students and colleagues alike.
Ruby found joy and fulfillment outside the classroom as well. She cherished the simple pleasures of life: from tending to her garden, line dancing, camping, watching her son's baseball games, and cheering on the Denver Broncos. Her love for cooking brought family and friends together around her table, sharing laughter and creating memories.
She was more than an amazing sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she was a friend to all, leaving an indelible imprint on their hearts.
Ruby is survived by her loving sisters: Rosie Freeman, Lincoln, Merna Belle Combs, Geneva, Daisy Michno, Bradenton, Florida; brother, Wes Hager, Lincoln; sons, Jack Johnson, La Center, Washington, and Jim Johnson, Castle Rock, Colorado; four grandchildren, Jeromee Tilton, Colorado, Tyson Tilton, York, Ryan Johnson, La Center, Camryn Johnson, Castle Rock; three great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Zariah, and Lane Tilton, all of York; nieces, Kathy Cooper and Brenda Combs; nephews, Michael Hager and John Combs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Ila Hager; daughter, Denise Milton; niece, Cathy Cooper; and a nephew, Michael Hager.
