Richard “Dick-Puffy” Weber of Friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Wednesday Oct. 19, 2022, at the age of 73. Dick was born April 2, 1949, in Friend to Benjamin and Alberta (Plock) Weber.

Dick graduated from Friend High School in 1967 and attended Universal Trade School in Omaha. In 2005, Dick was joined in marriage to Marilyn Ensign and together they resided in Friend. Dick worked at Warren Memorial Hospital for 25 years as the head of maintenance. He was a lifetime farmer, which he truly loved doing. Dick was a 40-year member of the Friend Rescue Squad. Most of all, Dick enjoyed time with his family, his children and grandchildren. Dick enjoyed traveling when he could get away. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. Dick loved farming and the animals on the farm, especially all their pets.

Dick is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Heather (Brooks) Martinez and husband David; grandchildren, Alex, Madison, Mallory and Marin; brother, Tom and Glady Weber; nephews, Darroll Weber, Darren and Miriam Weber, Dustin Weber and Barry Bottger; special long-time friend, Bob Anderson, Texas, and many other relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patty.

Per Dick’s wishes, he was cremated and there will be a private family scattering. A memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Friend Congregational Church. Visitation to sign the registration book only will be Friday Oct. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lauber Funeral and Cremation Services, Friend.
