Patricia “Pat” J. Paulsen of Friend passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at Ridgewood Rehabilitation and Care Center in Seward at the age of 86.

Pat was born April 3, 1936, in Friend to parents Norval Crowder and Ruth (Eikenhorst) Crowder.

As a young girl, Pat grew up in the Cordova and Beaver Crossing area and graduated in 1954 at Beaver Crossing High School. She was united in marriage to Stanley “Stan” A. Paulsen on March 16, 1956. To this union, four children were born, Terry, Brenda, Kevin and Deroyce. Pat went to beautician school, and she used that skill for many years. She also worked at Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend as an aide.

Pat was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cordova. She enjoyed working with her husband at the tavern in Cordova, and she also worked at the meat locker, assisting with cutting meat. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, taking care of flowers and her collection of dolls. She also enjoyed being with her grandchildren whenever she could. She enjoyed traveling with her husband on their trips to Texas. In 1972, she and Stan moved from Cordova to Friend.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Terry and JoAnn Paulsen, Beaver Crossing, Brenda and Bill Bruntz, Friend, and Kevin and Deb Paulsen, Friend; grandchildren, Mike (Aubrey) Paulsen, Peggy (Marvin) Cates, Ben (Brook) Paulsen, Tim (Kelly) Paulsen, Allen (Amanda) Bruntz, Jennifer Paulsen, Brad (Megan) Bruntz, Jodi Paulsen and Mark (Ariane) Bruntz; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Paulsen, Tavious Shuck, Chase Paulsen, Korrina Paulsen, Alexis Paulsen, Owen Paulsen, Meredith Paulsen, Jack Wells, Christian Paulsen, Blake Bruntz, Brock Bruntz, Atley Bruntz, Dakota Leuders, Jason Koehler, Juan Kerbow, Ethan Kerbow, Isai Goosman, September Jones, Miles Bruntz, Colin Bruntz, Kilian Bruntz, Draedyn Cates and Lexis Cates.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, DeRoyce Paulsen in 1988; a brother; great-granddaughter, Zoey Paulsen; and her husband, Stan in 2021.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lauber Funeral and Cremation Services, Friend. A funeral service will be Thursday, Nov. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cordova. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
