Karen Ann (Mogensen) Knepper, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her apartment at Heritage Pointe on Dec. 23, 2023.

Karen was born Sept. 20, 1941, in Lincoln, to Annetta and Jergen Mogensen. The family moved to Cordova and Karen went on to graduate from Exeter High School.

She attended Dana College in Blair for one year and was married to Jay Knepper in August 1961 in Scottsbluff, where they had the first of three children, Darin, in 1964, followed by another son, Craig, in 1966. Karen and Jay moved their family to Beatrice in 1967, where they had their daughter, Lisa, in 1969. Karen worked in accounting for the Beatrice Concrete Company for 30 years. After her retirement, she moved to Omaha to be near her daughter. Karen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. When she was not working in her beautiful garden, you could find her curled up with a good book.

Karen is survived by her children, Darin and Anja Knepper of Columbus, Craig Knepper of Prague and special friend Lori Kuncl of Wahoo, and Lisa and Mark Robertson of Omaha. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren, Jonah Knepper, Jeremiah Knepper, Hannah Knepper, Max Knepper and Reece Robertson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Annetta and Jergen Mogensen, and by her best friend, Jay Knepper.

The funeral service was Dec. 29 with committal at the Zastrow Cemetery in rural Cordova. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Zastrow Cemetery. Arrangements by Lauber Funeral and Cremation Services.
