Jeraldine (Bohaty) Rut of Friend went to her heavenly home on March 3, 2026, at the age of 95, surrounded by her loving family.

Jerry was born on a farm southeast of Beaver Crossing to Mary (Turek) Bohaty and Jerry Bohaty on July 28, 1930, and was the youngest of four children. She attended District 62 elementary country school through eighth grade, then attended Beaver Crossing High School, graduating in 1947. After graduation, she worked in Seward until 1949. On Feb. 17, 1949, she married the love of her life, Ervin A. Rut of Tobias. They were united together at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Beaver Crossing. To this union, three sons were born: Robert J, Ronald E, and John R. Ervin and Jerry resided on the Rut Family Farm until 1999.

After her boys were in school, she worked at various jobs. She was a cook in many local cafes and also cooked at Meridian Public School for six years. Jerry then worked at Peterson Manufacturing in DeWitt Ne for 15 years. After retiring from the factory, Jerry worked different jobs, along with helping Ervin in the fields. In the spring of 1999, they moved to Friend. Jerry worked at Cal’s Bar & Grill and Friend Floral. In 2006, she bought the First Street Liquor store, which she owned until 2011.

In 1994, Jerry was stricken by colon cancer. She very bravely beat this cancer with the help of her loving family, friends, and many prayers. Jerry was a family-oriented person. She always enjoyed the holiday seasons and having her family present, especially all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by sons, Robert (Beth) Rut of Hanover, Kansas, Ronald (Carol) Rut of Nebraska City, and John (Donna) Rut of Daykin; grandchildren, Aaron (Lindsay) Rut, James (Jaime) Rut, Amber (Nathan) Richardson, Amy (Shane) Buresh, Matthew Rut, Justin (Emily) Rut, Brian (Kelly) Rut, and Jill (Jason) Stewart; great-grandchildren, Burklee Rut; Hudson, Hayden, Adalyn, and Wesley Rut; Allie DeCoursey; Noah and Sarah Buresh; Aubrey and Tyler Rut; Archer, Crew, and Wells Rut; Brayden, Braxtyn, and Breckyn Rut; and Jaala and Jetta Stewart.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin Rut; brother and sister in-law, Jerry and Geraldine Bohaty; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tillie and Walter Wambold, and Deloris and Earl Scott; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was March 6 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tobias. A special hymn was sung by granddaughter, Amy Buresh, following the Rosary, “On the Wings of A Dove.” Organist Judy Rada accompanied the congregation during the funeral mass as they sang, “Be Not Afraid,” “Gift of Finest Wheat,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”

Pallbearers included Brian Rut, Matthew Rut, Aaron Rut, Justin Rut, James Rut, Amy Buresh, Jill Stewart, and Amber Richardson. Graveside Services were conducted following the Funeral Mass at the Tobias City Cemetery in rural Tobias. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
