Harold Rex Honeyfield of Davis, California, passed away Nov. 24, 2023, in Sacramento, California. He was born Dec. 28, 1930, on Johnson Mesa, New Mexico, to Ed and Elizabeth (Black) Honeyfield. 

He graduated in 1948, then joined the U.S. Navy. He married Valma Thompson, from Friend, on Feb. 14, 1976. 

He received a BS and MS degree in Agricultural Engineering. He was employed and retired from the USDA Soil Conservation Service. After retiring, he became a Registered Engineer for the State of New Mexico and a Registered Civil Engineer for the State of California. He enjoyed teaching younger engineers the thought process of designing. He published seven books of genealogy information, five devoted to his family and two for pioneer families of Colfax County, New Mexico, and Saline County, Nebraska. Harold was a prostate cancer survivor. 

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Lloyd Honeyfield; half-brother, Bill Lamborn; brother-in-law, Raymond Thompson; and mother and father-in-law, Elmer and Mabel, Thompson. 

Survivors include his wife, Valma (Thompson), Davis, California; sons, Holin (Rose), Spokane, Washington, Keith (Joann), Davis, California, and Jason, Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law, Wanda Honeyfield, Raton, New Mexico; nephews, Mark, Scott and Eric; and several grandnephews, nieces and many cousins.
