The Friend volleyball team came up short in its matches last week, falling to Deshler and Meridian in a triangular Oct. 7 and to Heartland at home Oct. 9.
The Bulldogs opened Pioneer Conference tournament play Oct. 11 with a loss to Sterling.
“The team has done a nice job of playing with control and making smart plays,” Coach Keeley Kroeker said. “The team continues to make growth each week. It’s been fun to see them apply the things we have worked on in practice in a game.
“We have been focusing on hitting zone one and the team has done a great job of doing this in our games.”
Friend lost to Deshler 25-18, 25-12 and to Meridian 25-9, 25-7 in a triangular. The team had five kills in each match and served three aces against DHS.
In its final home game of the season, FHS fell to Heartland 25-12, 25-12, 25-20. Abbie Milton, Kylie Weber and Ella Archer had two kills each. Vivian Weber and Cameryn Brandt recorded 13 digs apiece.
The Bulldogs lost to Sterling 25-13, 25-9 Oct. 11 in the first round of the Pioneer Conference tournament.
Friend (1-18) will finish the conference tournament this week before traveling to Diller-Odell Tuesday, Oct. 19.
