EXETER-MILLIGAN PUBLIC SCHOOL REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12, AT 7:00 PM EXETER SITE COMMUNITY President Erdkamp declared the regular meeting open at 7:03 PM. Those present were A. Erdkamp, K. Jansky, R. Johnson, D. Kallhoff, E. Milton, and Superintendent Sheffield. Board member E. Johnson was absent. There were three visitors present. The Nebraska Open Meetings Act was posted. Motion by K. Jansky and 2nd by R. Johnson to verify that the School Board of Exeter-Milligan Public School meeting was duly advertised, and all Board members were notified as to the time and place of meeting pursuant to Board policy and practice. Motion carried 5-0. Motion by E. Milton and 2nd by D. Kallhoff to approve the consensus agenda consisting of the Treasurer’s report, the minutes of the regular monthly meeting on February 12, 2025, minutes of the special meeting on February 24, 2025, and the March expenditures. Motion carried 5-0. One visitor spoke, thanking the board for their work with the consolidation and in favor of continuing the meal program with EMF in the future. The EM and F area committees met to discuss items related to the upcoming consolidation. The meal program is a central area of concern. The committees will meet on Monday, March 31, to continue consolidation discussions. Superintendent Sheffield shared a report on the elementary remodel project. The low bidder for the project was Genesis Construction, with a pre-construction meeting held on March 6th. The small gym floor was removed, and the mercury levels were lower than anticipated so that the debris could be disposed of in a regular landfill. The fitness center will be moved (last week in March) to the old Hands-on Fitness center in town for about 6 months. This was the best option for having the fitness center available for the public and athletes over the summer. An electronic lock system and cameras will be installed to help with surveillance. One change is to start the demo in the music room at the end of March since the fitness center was moving later than planned (the moving company couldn’t move it until then). Motion by R. Johnson and 2nd by E. Milton to accept the resignation, effective the end of the 24-25 school year, of Brian Murphy. Motion carried 5-0. The negotiations committee met to discuss the principal contract. Action on the principal contract negotiations has been tabled until the committee can meet with Friend’s committee. Motion by K. Jansky and 2nd by D. Kallhoff to approve the 2025-26 school calendar as presented. Motion carried 5-0. Motion and 2nd by the negotiations committee to approve the 2025-26 negotiated agreement with the teachers, as presented. Motion carried 5-0 Motion by E. Milton and 2nd by K. Jansky to approve the absence of board member E. Johnson. Motion carried 5-0. Other updates by Superintendent Sheffield included the NRCSA Spring Conference, the senior trip to Galveston, TX, and the Last Howl celebrations scheduled for Friday, May 16. The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 7:00 PM in Milligan. Motion by D. Kallhoff and 2nd by E. Milton to adjourn the meeting at 7:31 PM. Motion Carried 5-0.
