EXETER-MILLIGAN PUBLIC SCHOOL REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16, 7:00 PM MILLIGAN SITE LIBRARY President Erdkamp declared the regular meeting open at 7:00 PM. Those present were A. Erdkamp, E. Johnson, R. Johnson, D. Kallhoff, E. Milton, Superintendent Sheffield, and Principal Kroll. Board member K. Jansky was absent. Two visitors were present. The Nebraska Open Meetings Act was posted. Motion by R. Johnson and 2nd by E. Johnson to verify that the School Board of Exeter-Milligan Public School meeting was duly advertised, and all Board members were notified as to the time and place of the meeting pursuant to Board policy and practice. Motion carried 5-0. Motion by E. Milton and 2nd by E. Johnson to approve the consensus agenda consisting of the Treasurer’s report, the minutes of the regular monthly meeting on March 12, 2025, and the April expenditures. Motion carried 5-0. No one participated in public comment. The EM and Friend area committees met on Monday, March 31to discuss items related to the upcoming consolidation. Items discussed included the meal program, accreditation process, strategic planning, senior trip, negotiations, softball coop with Centennial, and the elementary construction project. The committee recommendations for the policy updates stem from a discussion with NDE on Rule 10 and the accreditation process. The next meeting will be Monday, April 28th, at 7:30 PM in Exeter. Superintendent Sheffield shared a report on the elementary remodel project. The music room and fitness center are being demoed. Progress is moving along and is still on schedule. The board discussed the 2025-26 softball coop with Centennial. It is possible that no one will play softball. The May meeting will discuss whether to proceed with the coop. Motion by E. Johnson to approve the following policy updates: 4150:Evaluation of Teachers; 5001: Students-Admission; 5205:Students-Graduation; 5420:Students-Dating Violence; 6020: Instruction-Program of Instruction; 6110:Instruction-Instructional Hours; 6200:Instruction-Objectives of the Instructional Program; 6212:Instruction-Assessments; 6285:Instruction-Student Participation in Athletic Contests Between Schools; 6370: Instruction-Multicultural Education; and 6600:Special Education Motion and 2nd by the negotiations committee to approve the 2025-26 non-certified contracts, as presented. Motion carried 5-0 Motion and 2nd by the negotiations committee to approve the 2025-26 principal contracts, as presented. Motion carried 5-0 Motion and 2nd by the negotiations committee to approve the 2025-26 and 2026-27 superintendent contract, as presented. Motion carried 5-0 Motion by R. Johnson and 2nd by D. Kallhoff to approve the absence of board member K. Jansky. Motion carried 5-0. Superintendent Sheffield also provided information about legislation and the Last Howl celebrations, which are scheduled for Friday, May 16. The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 7:30 PM in Exeter. Motion by D. Kallhoff and 2nd by R. Johnson to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 PM.
