Donna Jean Matejka was born in Lincoln on Oct. 10, 1932, to Royal “Si” and Alice (Lesser) Seiffert, the youngest of seven children.

She attended Lincoln Public School and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. Donna was united in marriage to Floyd “Bud” Bryson on April 3, 1954, in Lincoln and to this union, two daughters, Vicki and Annette, were born. She was later blessed with a second marriage to Milo “Mike” Matejka on May 12, 1972, in Cordova.

Donna was a bookkeeper, and for several years, she was employed at Bankers Life Insurance (now Ameritas) in Lincoln and retired from the State of Nebraska after 20 years working in the Retirement System.

Donna and Mike made their home in Friend and enjoyed many trips together. The most memorable one was their trip to Alaska, which was Mike’s last trip away from home. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cordova, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #183 and Warren Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Friend. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, gambling, and for several years, participated in League Bowling at Friend Bowling Alley. Donna enjoyed volunteering at the HATS Thrift Store. In her later years, she relocated to her hometown of Lincoln and lived with her four-legged companion, Es. Besides her 4-legged companion, she lived with her grandson, Brian.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Scruggs, Belen, New Mexico, and Annette and (Greg) Wells, Lincoln; six grandchildren, Eric Byson, Tyrone Sheridan, Jennifer Sheridan, Jessica Scdoris, Brian Solomon and Timothy Sheridan; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mike; former husband, Bud; brothers, Marvin and Royal Seiffert; sisters, Bernice Fuller, Evelyn Allen, Reta Seiffert and Lois Bauer.

Visitation will be at the Lauber Funeral Home in Friend, on Thursday, Oct. 12, from 3 – 8 p.m. The family will greet and receive friends and relatives from 6:30 – 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at the Lauber Funeral Home in Friend, on Friday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. with interment at the Andrew Cemetery in Friend.
