Wilber's annual car raffle is here! This year, a bright white 2024 Jeep Compass with a black interior is up for grabs. Tickets are $100 each and 400 are available. The Crete Post 147 Legion juniors team topped Seward ZKE Storage Post 33 5-0 June 19 in Seward. Crete pitching held Seward to just two hits - singles by Kyle Riley and Tyler Hammond. Triston Lenhoff drove in two runs for Crete.
The Seward ZKE Storage Post 33 seniors had to come from behind to get the win over Crete June 19. Crete took a 4-2 lead with three runs in the sixth. Seward scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh to get the 5-4 victory. Reggie Sukup and Ryley Hain had three hits each, and Braiden Herring drove in two for Seward. Brooks Piening went 2-3 for Crete, and Christian drove in two.
The Cornerstone Bank (Geneva) Sharks went 1-1 against Wymore Diller Odell June 19. Geneva lost game one 8-2 but won game two 6-5. In game two, the Sharks had to hold off a late WDO rally for the win. WDO scored four runs in the fifth to make the score 6-5. Preston Komenda was 2-3 and drove in two runs for Geneva in the game.
The Wilber Post 101 juniors team scored five runs in the sixth to defeat Tri County 13-11 June 19. Gavin Vlcan went 4-5 and scored four runs, and Aven Smith doubled and drove in four for Wilber. Henry Kapke notched three RBIs for Tri County.
The Wilber Post 101 seniors team defeated Tri County 5-2 June 19. Cash Keslar was 2-3 for Wilber, and Carter Skleba hit a home run. Braiden Strouf went 2-4 with a double for Tri County.
The funeral service for Jesse Wells is today, June 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the Milford Mennonite Church in Milford. Lauber Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
