Stanley A. Paulsen was born March 26, 1936, in Friend, to Aage Paulsen and Eileen (Johnson) Paulsen, and passed away Saturday Oct. 16, 2021, at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln at the age of 85.

As a young boy, Stanley grew up in the Cordova area and graduated from the Beaver Crossing High School in 1953. Stanley enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956, serving in Frankfort, Germany, and was discharged in 1958. He was united in marriage to Patricia Crowder on March 15, 1956, and to this union, four children were born: Terry, Brenda, Kevin and DeRoyce. Stanley became a meat inspector for the U.S.D.A. and retired in 1991. He then began work for Seward County as a road grader operator and retired in 2001. Stanley also owned the Paulsen Tavern in Cordova and Paulsen Auction.

Stanley was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cordova and the American Legion, Beaver Crossing branch. He enjoyed golf, woodworking and traveling with Pat. He loved attending his grandchildren and great-grand children’s sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Pat; his children and spouses, Terry and JoAnn Paulsen, Beaver Crossing, Kevin and Deb Paulsen, Friend, and Brenda and Bill Bruntz, Friend; grandchildren, Mike Paulsen, Peggy Cates, Ben Paulsen, Tim Paulsen, Allen Bruntz, Jennifer Paulsen, Brad Bruntz, Jodi Paulsen and Mark Bruntz; great-grandchildren, Tyler Paulsen, Tavious Shuck, Chase Paulsen, Korrina Paulsen, Alexis Paulsen, Owen Paulsen, Meredith Paulsen, Jack Wells, Christian Paulsen, Blake Bruntz, Brock Bruntz, Atley Bruntz, Dakota Leuders, Juan Kerbow, Ethan Kerbow, Isai Goosman, September Jones, Miles Bruntz, Colin Bruntz, Kilian Bruntz, Draedyn Cates and Lexis Cates.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, DeRoyce Paulsen; sister, Alice Marie Beckler Theis; and great-granddaughter, Zoey Paulsen.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cordova. Visitation is Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lauber Funeral Home in Friend.
