Robert Dean “Bob” Slezak, 85, of Crete, passed away April 26, 2021, at his home.

He was born March 6, 1936, near Milligan, to Frank E. and Ruth M. (Domling) Slezak. Bob graduated from Milligan High School in 1953 and then enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served from Sept. 10, 1953, to Feb. 12, 1957. He married Irma Jean Loukota on Dec. 28, 1957, and attended college in Chicago for two years. Bob worked as an insurance adjuster for EMC Insurance Company. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crete and the American Legion in Milligan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irma; infant brother, Roger; brothers-in-law, Emil Steinacher and Gary Frankforter; sister, Darlene Vodicka; nephew, Rick Krupicka; sister-in-law, Sylvia Slezak. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Twila Slezak of Bartlett, Texas; daughter, Barbara Slezak of Crete; siblings and their spouses, Norman and Harriett Slezak of Stanardsville, Virginia, Shirley Steinacher of Geneva, Evelyn and Charles Krupicka of Milligan, Linda and Henry Lopez of Wilber, Judy and Douglas Turek of Geneva, Franklin “Butch” and Karla Slezak of Phillips, Beverly and Loren Filipi of Milligan; brother-in-law, Darrell Vodicka of Geneva; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass was April 30 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Milligan, followed by burial at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Milligan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Milligan American Legion. Condolences may be left for the family at www.kunclfh.com.
