Paul E. Falck was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Lincoln, to Paulus and Laura (Johnson) Falck, the youngest of four children and passed away on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at Immanuel Lighthouse Nursing Home in Omaha.

He grew up in Cordova, where he graduated from high school in 1949. After graduation, he worked on a nearby farm for a year and then went to work in a publishing company in Lincoln for a couple of years before he was drafted into the Army in 1953. He served most of his time as a clerk typist in the HQ 7th Army Training Command in Germany during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1955 and enrolled in trade school in Milford to be trained as an auto mechanic. He began working for Mack’s Transport Service in 1958 as a mechanic and was later promoted to shop foreman where he worked for 41 years until he retired in 1999.

Paul married Janice on Feb. 4, 1961. They had two children, John and Anne, and later welcomed daughter-in-law Maggie and son-in-law Fred. He was thrilled to have five grandchildren, John and Maggie’s three sons Kevin, Justin and Andrew and Anne and Fred’s children, Tara and Paul. In October 2019, he was happy to welcome Justin’s wife Kelsi to the family.

Paul (Gene) will always be loved and fondly remembered as a husband, dad, grandpa/pa-ah, uncle, cousin and friend. He lived a life of character and integrity and was a skilled and knowledgeable mechanic, shop foreman and general fix-it man. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved camping and boating, playing pitch, engaging with the family pets and rooting for Nebraska football. Most of all, he loved, supported and enjoyed time with his family through these activities, or celebrating birthdays and holidays. And to our delight, he regaled us with stories of times past or retelling tales of times with his grandchildren. We were extremely blessed that God gave us the most amazing husband, dad and grandfather who loved each of us with all his heart. May he rest in Heaven and have eternal life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janice of 59 years; his children, John (Maggie) Falck, Anne and Fred Henderson; his grandchildren, Kevin, Justin (Kelsi) and Andrew Falck, Tara and Paul Henderson; sister-in-law, Connie Falck; nieces and nephews, Vali (Gaylord) Mussman, Kathy (Steve) Gouchnour, Kim, Marty (Joan) and Brad Larsen,

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn (Knud) Larsen; two brothers, Franklin and Kenneth; and a nephew, Gregg Larsen.

A funeral services was Jan. 8 with interment in Zastrow Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lutheran Church, 4200 Vine St, Lincoln, NE 68503. Condolences may be left for the family at www.lauberfh.com.
