EXETER-MILLIGAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING COMMUNITY CLASSROOM EXETER SITE TUESDAY, MARCH 7, 2023 7:00 PM. President Erdkamp declared the regular meeting open at 7:00 pm. Also present were D. Kallhoff, K. Jansky, E. Milton, P. Jurgensen, A. Vavra, Superintendent Sheffield, and Principal Kroll. There were fourteen other visitors present. The Nebraska open meetings act was posted. Motion by K. Jansky and 2nd by E. Milton to verify that the meeting of the School Board of Exeter-Milligan Public School was duly advertised, and all Board members were notified as to the time and place of the meeting pursuant to Board policy and practice. Motion carried 6-0. Motion by A. Vavra and 2nd by K. Jansky to approve the consensus agenda consisting of the Treasurer's report, minutes of the regular monthly meeting on February 15, 2023, and the March expenditures. Motion carried 6-0. There was no policy review. Curriculum report/updates included: 2023-24 class schedule/curriculum updates Presentation by Tucker Svec, RJ Clevenger, and Logan Johnson about adding esports Presentation by Troy Kallhoff pertaining to the 2023 EMF Homecoming No public comment was shared. The building and grounds committee met before the board meeting. The committee shared details of the possible elementary HVAC project in the summer of 2024. Facility Advocates had shared an executive summary of the proposed project and discussed the merits of using an ESCO partnership. More information pertaining to an ESCO and a possible RFQ will be provided at the April meeting. Other projects discussed for this summer include sanding/painting the Exeter site gym floor and replacing the door FOB/electronic lock system. The negotiations committee will meet in the near future to discuss possible updates to the superintendent contract. The EMF sponsor/coach meeting was held on Wed, March 1st. A coop handbook is being developed with the goal to have it complete and shared with each school board in April. The vote for the EMF acceptance into MUDECAS is Monday, March 13. There were no updates pertaining to Milligan site options. The Milligan Village Board plans to tour the site and is interested in putting together a group of citizens to explore options for the buildings. The administration shared their desire to adjust the daily schedule. It would be beneficial to have the same daily schedule as Friend Public School due to sharing a teacher and also to schedule some PD Fridays together. The day would start at 8:05 AM with a regular-day dismissal at 3:29 PM and a 2:00 PM dismissal on Friday (or the last day of the week). The board was receptive to the idea, so the administration will have a specific daily schedule for the April meeting. Motion by D. Kallhoff and 2nd by E. Milton to approve the 2023-24 teaching contract with Samantha Due. Motion carried 6-0. Motion by K. Jansky and 2nd by P. Jurgensen to approve the 2023-24 teacher interlocal agreement with Friend Public School. Motion carried 6-0, Supt. Sheffield shared a legislative update. The NRCSA Spring Conference is on March 23 and March 24 in Kearney. Board members are to contact Supt. Sheffield if they are interested in attending. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 13 at 8:00 pm in the Milligan Site Music Room. Motion by D. Kallhoff and 2nd by K. Jansky to adjourn the meeting at 7:44 pm.
