Duane Edward Hulse, 85, of Friend, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2024.
Duane was born July 24, 1939, in Friend, to Edward and Alletta (Kennel) Hulse. He was the oldest of three children. He attended Friend Public School, graduating with the class of 1957. In March of 1963, he married Ruby Maria Mitchell. They made their home in Friend, raising their four children (Tammy, Terri, Billy and Brian). Ruby and Duane celebrated 60 years of marriage, March 2, 2023.
Duane was employed by Farmer’s Co-op, Milton Brothers and was the owner of “The Pub” in Friend for more than 15 years.
Duane loved fishing and camping with his kids and grandkids. If you were lucky enough to go camping with him, you enjoyed great food and entertainment. The “leveling” of the camper was always an event!
Survivors include his daughter, Tammy (Butch) Roach of Lincoln; sons William (Alanna) Hulse, Callaway, and Brian (Sunny) Hulse of Lincoln; grandchildren, Travis Hulse, Gail Richters, Samantha Roach, Bobbi Jo (Colten) Oliva, Kyle Baugh, Amy Baugh (Ethan Kattes), T.J. (Jenna Rash) Baugh, Edward Hulse, Josie (Clay Dickinson) Hulse, Cole Eiland, Kellsey Eiland, Major Eiland, Madison (Connor) Adams and Avery Hulse; sister, Velda Busboom, Dorchester; sister-in-law, Judith Hulse, Friend; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Robert (Sherri) Mitchell, Tehama, Calivornia.
Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Hulse; daughter, Terri (Joe) Baugh; granddaughter, Quinlynn Hulse; brother, Bill Hulse; and brother-in-law, John Busboom.
There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. at the Friend Congregational Church. Inurnment will follow at the Andrew Cemetery in Friend. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lauber Funeral Home-Friend with a later designation by the family. Arrangements by Lauber Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
