Deloris Bernice Scott was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Beaver Crossing, to Jerry and Mary (Turek) Bohaty and passed away at her home April 10, 2022, at the age of 96 years, 8 months and 2 days.

Deloris grew up on a farm near Beaver Crossing, where she attended and graduated from Beaver Crossing High School with the Class of 1942. After graduating, she worked in Crete at the egg plant and the mill, making food products for World War II. Later, she worked at Hughes Brothers, Inc., and at the Ben Franklin Store in Seward.

In the fall of 1946, she began dating her future husband, Earl Scott. On Dec. 4, 1947, the couple was united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Beaver Crossing. Deloris and Earl began their married lives together farming and raising livestock. On May 4, 1957, they adopted a son, Dale Lee and two years later on June 26, 1959, they adopted a daughter, Linda Kay. After farming rental property, they were able to purchase their own farm in January of 1965. In March 1965, they moved to their new farm southeast of Beaver Crossing, where they lived until they moved to Friend in 2002.

Deloris assisted Earl in farming and operating a grade A dairy until late 1975. Deloris began selling Fuller Brush and Avon in the late 1960s and continued for about 12 years. In 1969, she began to cook at various restaurants. Over the next 20 years, Deloris cooked for both restaurants located at the Milford I-80 interchange, the Flying V south of Utica and at Southeast Community College in Milford. Deloris was a 65-year member of the Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church. She loved all types of plants and flowers. Yearly, she loved to plant a garden. She enjoyed going to polka dances and dancing.

Deloris is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Scott (2009); sister, Tillie and husband, Walt Wambold; brother, Jerry and wife, Geraldine Bohaty; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ervin Rut, Ronald and wife, Bonnie Scott, Luella and husband, Frank Smith and her parents-in-law, Arthur and Ella Scott.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her son, Dale and wife, Charlotte Scott, Lincoln; daughter, Linda and husband, Lonnie Mueller, Lincoln; three grandchildren, Derek Mueller, Devin and wife, Katie Mueller, Kelsey Scott and partner, Anthony Solla; step-grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Joshua Pohlman and Sgt. Aaron Pohlman; great-grandchildren, Zayden Mueller and Luca Solla; sister, Jeraldine Rut; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation is from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home in Seward, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at the Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church with interment at the Beaver Crossing Cemetery.
