Bob Newcomb passed six weeks short of turning 94 in Bertrand.
Bob moved to Friend to become the shop teacher and coach at the high school in 1954 and taught for three years. He was married to Janice Haussler, the sister of the late Jeannie Vojta. Many long-time residents of the area still remember him fondly and is still referred to as Bartley Bob by residents from Benkleman to Arapahoe.
